What to expect on the day

  • Get behind the wheel – experience driving a bus with one of our professional driving instructors.
  • Chat with inspiring women – meet some of our amazing female bus drivers and inspectors, hear about their journeys and get all your questions answered.
  • Take a tour – get a tour of our Central Control centre and see how we keep everything running smoothly.
  • Presentation – receive a presentation from our recruitment team, who will take you through the recruitment process for bus drivers and discuss the various benefits of working for Dublin Bus.

How do I apply to attend an open day?

To attend an open day all you need to do is click on the link below. This will bring you to an online form where you fill out some details and select the date that you would like to attend.

You will receive a response which is confirmation that we have received your details. We will then reach out to you with a date, time slot, and directions to the location. You must hold a valid category B (car) licence for a minimum of two years to attend an open day.

Benefits

Salary: €893.06 per week increasing to €1,034.03 (six-year pay scale, 5-day week inclusive of shift and Sunday premium). New drivers will operate scheduled services covering a 5-day week with rotating shifts (including night service).

Part Time bus driver positions are available for category D and B licence holders. The standard working hours for a Part Time Bus Driver is a minimum of 16 hours each week. You will be rostered to work every Sunday and one additional day. You will be required to work shifts including, but not limited to, night service and the Nitelinks type duties. The salary for the role is a flat rate of €22.90 per hour increasing to €26.51 (on a six-year pay scale).

Initial training and mentoring is provided as well as on-going training and development (including periodic CPC).

On appointment (following a probationary period of 6 months), we will offer you a wide range of benefits including either a company pension scheme or a PRSA pension scheme, a subsidised medical scheme, free bus travel and concessionary rail travel.
