Schools Programme

We're inviting schools across the greater Dublin Area to sign up to our new schools' programme!

Dublin Bus is launching a redesigned Schools Programme this September, developed to deliver engaging, fun and educational sessions for children aged 7 to 11 years.

The programme promotes awareness of the benefits of public transport, develops positive onboard behaviour and helps students recognise their shared responsibility as passengers.

The session is carefully structured to be both interactive and informative, incorporating a variety of learning techniques such as games, props, activity packs and engaging visual content to ensure children remain actively involved throughout.

Schools can sign up by emailing  [email protected]

Programme Themes
The sessions are centred around five key themes, all of which emphasise the importance of dignity and respect when using public transport:

  1. Dignity and Respect on the Bus
    • Encouraging children to treat drivers, fellow passengers and their surroundings with kindness, courtesy and respect.
  2. The Importance of Public Transport for Communities
    • Exploring how buses connect people, support local communities, and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
  3. What Happens When a Bus is Damaged
    • Helping students understand the real-life impacts of damage. How one incident can keep buses off the road for days and effect our people and planet.
  4. How People You Know Use the Bus
    • Relating bus use to everyday life by highlighting how family members, friends and community workers rely on public transport.
  5. How Could You Make Buses Better
    • Encouraging creativity and fun by inviting children to share ideas on improving buses, as imaginative as possible!

Learning Approach
The programme is designed to be highly inclusive and participative, ensuring children learn through discussion, collaboration and hands-on activities, with the use of props and activity packs helping reinforce key messages in a memorable and enjoyable way for all.

Completion & Recognition
At the end of the programme, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their engagement and learning.
