In support of the Dublin Bus strategy – “Evolving for Tomorrow”, the Dublin Bus sustainability strategy reflects our purpose, ambition and strategic priorities.

As the transport mode of choice, we contribute to the achievement of the city’s climate goals while supporting its social and economic growth. Dublin Bus provides a sustainable and growing service and continues to develop as a thriving business.

Our Strategic Priority

Sustainable & Socially Responsible
To be a sustainable transport solutions provider supporting Ireland’s climate action targets as outlined under the Government’s Climate Action Plan (CAP).

We are committed to:

  • Responding positively and proactively to the investments and objectives of the national transport and sustainability strategies
  • Electrifying the fleet to create a cleaner, greener, quieter future for Dublin with every journey.
  • Setting wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives for the company.

What does our sustainability strategy mean for Dublin Bus
In line with our sustainability strategy, sustainability is integrated throughout all areas of Dublin Bus, and is defined for the three pillars of sustainability - environment, society and governance:

  • Environment: Protect and regenerate the environment through our activities, promoting environmental sustainability and leadership to help secure a greener, zero emission and more resilient Dublin
  • Society: Maximise social value and achieve the highest level of safety for both customers and our employees, to improve the lives and accessibility for communities we serve
  • Governance: Operate to keep the organisation governed sustainably to mitigate risk and identify new opportunities within our operating environment

Key Action Areas
  • Climate Action: We will reduce our GHG emissions by 51% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050. We will promote modal shifts to increase passenger numbers on Dublin Bus by improving our punctuality and reliability.
  • Climate Resilience: We will ensure we are ready for the impacts of climate change by undertaking climate risk planning and analysis.
  • Air Quality: We will transform our vehicle fleets to zero emission and support broader efforts to clean Dublin's air.
  • Safety: We will continue to drive strong safety culture and performance.
  • Equality, diversity and Inclusion: We will support a diverse, inclusive and accessible workplace and transport network.
  • Community: We will deepen relationships with the communities we serve, proactively addressing barriers to use of our services.
  • Collaboration: We will foster partnerships and collaboration across the sector to enable and accelerate progress on our priority areas.
  • Resilient: We will ensure business resilience by embedding sustainability within the corporate strategy and governance approaches.
  • Regulation: We will take a proactive approach to preparing for and adopting new ESG regulation.
  • Responsible sourcing: We will promote the circular economy and address sustainability impacts in our value chain through sustainable procurement practices.
