Dublin Bus diversions for Dublin City Half Marathon as the clocks stride forward
28 March 2025
- Dublin Bus advises of more than 30 diversions for Half Marathon
- Multiple road closures causing significant disruption on morning of 30 March
- Clocks moving forward 1 hour on Sunday morning
- RTPI screens will be displaying tailored information
Dublin Bus is diverting upwards of 30 routes on the north side of Dublin. Although the event and diversions are on the north side of the Liffey, the knock-on effect may see delays affecting some routes such as the high-frequency, cross-city E1 and E2 routes that now operate 24/7.
Due to the diversions in place, the on-street Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) screens will be affected. Dublin Bus will display a tailored message on screens along the affected routes.
There will be multiple road closures across the capital city from early that morning until 1pm. Guild Street will close from midday on Saturday. O’Connell Street southbound will close from 3am to 1pm. All road closures are scheduled to end by 14.00 on Sunday with the exception of Guild Street, which is the finish line.
Another potential hurdle for participants in the Half Marathon is the clocks going forward. The clocks move forward by one hour at 02.00 on Sunday. Although this will not affect Dublin Bus Operations, people should be aware so that they catch the bus they intended on.
Dublin Bus spokesperson, Blake Boland, said that “the Dublin Half Marathon is a big event for the city. But it also brings with it many road closures and significant disruption to services. We’re doing whatever we can to help get people around the city by diverting routes as closely as possible to the original routes.”
Mr Boland continued on to say that “it is important that people plan their journey on the day and look up our website to see where those diversions are taking place. The on-street Real Time Passenger Information screens at stops will display more information on affected routes also.”
