Diversions due to the Dublin City Half Marathon

13 March 2025

We wish to advise customers that the Dublin City Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 30 March 2025.

The race will take the following route: O'Connell Street, Summerhill, Drumcondra, Whitehalll, Beaumont, Artane, Killester, Raheny, Clontarf, Eastwall, North Strand and Seville Place.

To facilitate the race, the below areas will be closed to traffic, 

  • O'Connell Street Southbound will be closed between 03.00hrs and 13.00hrs.
  • O'Connell Street Northbound will be closed between 06.30hrs and 10.00hrs.
  • Talbot Street will be closed, west of Gardiner Street until 10.30hrs.
  • Drumcondra Road will be closed inbound between 08.15hrs and 10:30hrs. 
  • Beaumont will be closed between 08.30hrs and 11.00hrs. 
  • Collins Avenue East will be closed between 08.30hrs to 11.00hrs. 

As a result the following diversions will be in place;

Route 1   
Towards Shaw Street
Normal route to Whitehall, divert via Collins Avenue, Ballymun Road, Mobhi Road, Botanic Road, Whitworth Road, Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Beresford Place to normal route. 
Towards Santry
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, Dorset Street and back on to normal route.

Route 6
Towards Abbey Street Lower
Normal route to Black Banks, divert to Howth Road, Raheny and back on to normal route to Talbot Street, divert left Gardiner Street and terminate.
Towards Howth Station
Depart Gardiner Street, normal route to junction of Watermill Road, divert straight to Raheny Village, Black Banks and normal route.

Routes 7/a
Towards Brides Glen/Loughlinstown
Depart terminus, divert to Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay, D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards Mountjoy Square
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, to terminus.

Route 9
Towards Limekiln Ave
Normal route to Phibsborough Road, divert straight to Constitution Hill, Church Street, Ormond Quay, Bachelors Walk, O’Connell Bridge and back on to normal route.
Towards Charlestown
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to the South Quays right to Church Street, Phibsborough Road back on to normal route.

Routes 11/b
Towards Sandyford Business District/Donnybrook Road
Normal route to North Circular Road, divert straight on North Circular Road to Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay, D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards Phoenix Park
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, Dorset Street, North Circular Road and back on to normal route.

Route 13
Towards Grange Castle
From terminus, divert to Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay to D’Olier Street and normal route.
Towards Mountjoy Square
Normal route to O Connell Bridge then divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, to terminus.

Route 14
Towards Dundrum Luas Station
Depart terminus, divert right to Kilmore Road, Ardlea Road, Malahide Road southbound and continue to Donnycarney Church and back on to normal route.
Towards Beaumont 
Normal route to Donnycarney Church, divert straight and continue on Malahide Road, Artane Roundabout, Ardlea Road to terminate at Maryfield Drive.

Route 16
Towards Balinteer
Normal route to Shantalla Flyover, divert right to Whitehall, Collins Avenue, Ballymun Road, Mobhi Road, Botanic Road, Whitworth Road, Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay, D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards Dublin Airport
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, Dorset Street and back on to normal route.

Route 19
Towards Parnell Square
Normal route to Dorset Street, then divert to Gardiner Street, Mountjoy Square and terminate.
Towards Dublin Airport
Depart Route 13 terminus to Gardiner Street, Dorset Street and back on to normal route.

Routes 27a/b
Towards Eden Quay
Normal route to Talbot Street, divert left to Gardiner Street and terminate.
Towards Blunden Drive/Harristown
Depart Gardiner Street to Beresford Place and back on to normal route.

Route 33
Towards Lower Abbey Street
Normal route to Shantalla Flyover, divert right to Whitehall, Collins Avenue, Ballymun Road, Mobhi Road, Botanic Road, Whitworth Road, Dorset Street,Gardiner Street, Mountjoy Square to Summerhill Garage and terminate. 
Towards Balbriggan
Depart Summerhill Garage, to Mountjoy Square South, Gardiner Street and back onto normal route.

Towards Burlington Road
Normal route to North Circular Road, divert straight on North Circular Road to Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay to D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards Damastown
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, to Dorset Street, North Circular Road and continue to normal route.

Towards Earlsfort Terrace/Toberburr/Tyrrelstown
Normal route to Dorset Street, divert to Gardiner Street to Mountjoy Square to Route 7 Terminus.
Towards Charlestown/Parnell Street
Depart Route 7 terminus to Gardiner Street, Dorset Street and back on to normal route.

Routes 41/b/c
Towards Lower Abbey Street
Normal route to Shantalla Flyover, divert right to Whitehall, Collins Avenue, Ballymun Road, Mobhi Road, Botanic Road, Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Gardiner Street to Mountjoy Square to Summerhill Garage and terminate.
Towards Swords
Depart Summerhill Garage to Mountjoy Square South, Gardiner Street and back on to normal route.

Route 44
Towards Enniskerry
Depart terminus, divert to Collins Avenue westbound left to Ballymun Road, Mobhi Road, Botanic Road, Whitworth Road, Dorset Street, Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay, D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards DCU
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, Dorset Street and back on to normal route.

Route 53
Towards Dublin Ferryport
Depart Talbot Street, divert to Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, North Wall Quay, East Wall Road to Ferryport and back on to normal route. 
Towards Talbot Street
Depart Ferryport, divert south on East Wall Road to Northwall Quay, Talbot Bridge, George’s Quay, Butt Bridge, Amiens Street to Talbot Street and terminate.

Towards Parnell Street
Normal route to North Circular Road, divert straight on North Circular Road to Dorset Street, Gardiner Street to terminate at Route 7 terminus.
Towards Ashtown
Depart Route 7 terminus to Gardiner Street, Dorset Street, North Circular Road and back on to normal route.

Route 122
Towards Drimnagh Road
Normal route to Dorset Street, divert to Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay to D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.
Towards Ashington 
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge then divert to Eden Quay, Gardiner Street, to Dorset Street, and back on to normal route.

Route 123
Towards Marino
Normal route to O’Connell Bridge, divert to Eden Quay, Amiens Street, North Strand, Fairview, Malahide Road to Griffith Avenue and terminate.
Towards Walkinstown
Normal route to Summerhill then divert left to Gardiner Street, Beresford Place, Burgh Quay to D’Olier Street and back on to normal route.

Route 140
Towards Palmerston Park
Normal route to Phibsborough Road, divert straight to Constitution Hill, Church Street to Ormond Quay, Bachelors Walk, O’Connell Bridge and back on to normal route.
Towards Ballymun (IKEA)
Normal route to O Connell Bridge, divert to the South Quays right to Church Street, Phibsborough Road and back on to normal route.

Routes E1 and E2
Towards Ballywaltrim/Dun Laoghaire
Normal route to Phibsborough Road, divert straight to Constitution Hill, Church Street to Ormond Quay, Bachelors Walk, O’Connell Bridge and back on to normal route.
Towards Northwood/Harristown
Normal route to O'Connell Bridge, divert to the South Quays right to Church Street, Phibsborough Road and back on to normal route.

Route N4
Towards Point Village
Normal route to Collins Avenue, divert to DCU and terminate.
Towards Blanchardstown S.C.
Depart 44 terminus to Collins Avenue and back on to normal route
