Senior Engineer - Technical Office
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, the successful candidate will provide direction and leadership to the Technical Office Team to ensure high standards in the department.  

The Senior Engineer is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the Technical Department team is adequately resourced and upskilled to meet future changes
  • Provide technical input to optimise fleet safety, availability, reliability, presentation, and maintenance costs
  • Develop procedures for the service and maintenance of the fleet including fault diagnostics
  • Manage and coordinate the Technical Office team inspections and checks on new vehicles both at vehicle manufacturers’ premises/production facilities and when vehicles are delivered to Dublin Bus
  • Manage the training of depot engineering employees in respect of procedures for the service, maintenance, and repair of the Dublin Bus vehicle fleet
  • Collate, review and distribute vehicle-related data and statistics for other departments usage (e.g. periodic fleet mileage reporting)
  • Lead continuous improvement within the Technical Office through application of lean six-sigma techniques and to support Engineering Dept continuous improvement overall

Requirements: 

  • Third level qualification, (level 8 or 9) in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Green/black belt lean six sigma certification desirable
  • Knowledge of vehicle design and maintenance procedures
  • Technical expertise and competence in vehicle technology desirable
  • A track record of managing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience managing a team to deliver high performance
