Planned Improvements

What other improvements are planned for Dublin Bus?
Along with the Network Direct Project, a number of other developments are taking place to improve the Dublin Bus experience for customers.

Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI)
Customers will be able to get real time bus information via mobile phone text message and on www.dublinbus.ie. This information will also be available at certain bus stops across the city and will be introduced from later this year.

Website Enhancements
Improvements at www.dublinbus.ie are also making things easier for the customer. A new facility displays routes on Google Maps, allowing customers to easily find their stop. A Route Planner will also be available allowing users to map the best options for travelling on the Dublin Bus network.

Prepaid Smartcards
All Dublin Bus prepaid tickets are now smartcards and offer non consecutive days of travel on Dublin Bus services. The increased use of smartcards has increased efficiency, meaning speedier boarding times and greater flexibility for the customer. Dublin Bus smartcards will integrate fully with the Integrated Ticketing Scheme when it is launched.

Accessibility
Dublin Bus will have a fully low floor accessible fleet by 2012 and is on target to meet this commitment with 90% of the fleet currently low floor.

More Bus Priority
With the support of the Local Authorities, more bus priorities are being introduced to reduce delays and improve the reliability of our services.
