Bus Service

What kind of bus service do Dubliners want?

The Deloitte Report and independent customer research consistently show that customers want a bus service that has:

  • Regular frequent services on all main routes
  • Faster, more direct services with fewer route variations
  • A network that is easier to understand
  • More cross city services and more direct routes into the city and other key customer demand areas
  • Customer focused timetables with consistent intervals between departures
  • Real time passenger information and improved reliability

The time is right for Dublin Bus to modernise its network and provide a service that reflects all of these customer requirements while continuing to deliver good value for money for the customer and taxpayer. We plan to roll out the new improved network across Dublin on a phased basis throughout 2010 - 2011.

When will my bus service change?

Service changes will happen in most parts of Dublin, but all of these changes are designed to provide you and your community with a better, more frequent and more reliable bus service.

When will these changes be introduced?
Phase 1 of the Dublin Bus Network Direct Project is now complete and has been approved in principle by the National Transport Authority. This phase involved reviewing the most recent travel patterns across all forms of transport, emerging customer trends and really looking at how up to one million customers travel every day in the greater Dublin area. The network has been redesigned based on this data while also following Government Policy for transport integration.  Over the coming months Dublin Bus will be holding local meetings to inform customers of planned changes. These changes will happen on a phased basis, beginning in mid 2010.

Where can I get more information?
The next phase of the Network Direct Project will involve a communication process over the coming months to inform customers of the proposed service changes in their respective areas.  Customers can get further information by contacting the Network Direct Project Office.
