School Calendar

Dublin Bus employs dedicated school co-ordinators who build and maintain relationships with both employees and young people in national and secondary schools across Dublin. The co-ordinators visit schools and use different techniques to communicate how to use and respect public transport in their area including talks, exhibiting anti-vandalism DVDs and on bus CCTV demonstrations.

As part of this programme, Dublin Bus holds an annual Children’s Art Competition in national schools across Dublin. The competition began in 2002 with a pilot programme in the Dublin 17 area. Such was its success that it is now an annual event and children in national schools throughout Dublin are invited to take part each year and submit a picture or poem with a Dublin Bus theme. The winning entries are published in a Dublin Bus calendar that is distributed among the participating schools, Dublin Bus employees and elected representatives in the Greater Dublin Area. A new selection of schools is chosen from across the GDA and invited to participate in the competition with a new calendar being produced annually.

By highlighting the benefits of the bus among these children, Dublin Bus aims to promote the value of public transport in local communities among younger customers.
