Dublin Bus bringing you to the Rising

Published on Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Easter 2016 will be a time of great celebration as the city and the country celebrates the centenary of the Rising.

Our services

Dublin Bus is the largest provider of public transport over the Easter weekend. With large numbers of people expected to attend the centenary commemorations we will have additional capacity on our services to bring people into the city during Easter weekend. We have been in discussions with key agencies for a number of months to put plans in place for the weekend, which include Department of An Taoiseach, Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Dublin City Council, An Garda Síochána, National Transport Authority and other public transport operators.

On Easter Sunday, we will operate approximately 300 additional buses at peak times.

Due to the large scale of commemorative events occurring across the Easter weekend, we advise all customers to visit https://www.dublinbus.ie/News-Centre/General-News/Easter-Arrangements-2016/ for detailed diversions and route map to help you plan your journey. Please note that from 6am to 6pm on Easter Sunday, RTPI screens will not be in use.

Keeping Dublin moving

We will have enhanced customer support in place to provide information and updates to our customers. This allows us to deliver clear and accurate information to our customers, as they make their way to and from the centenary celebrations.

We also have a dedicated ‘Routes to the Rising’ section on our website. ‘Routes to the Rising’ has information on the diversions in place for the Easter Sunday Parade, the centenary festivities and customer service details.
