Minster for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar, TD Launches Dublin Bus’ improved Airlink service
Published on Wednesday, June 29, 2011
Today Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar, TD launched Dublin Bus’ improved Airlink service. Airlink now offers a faster high frequency connection for over 1 million corporate visitors and tourists from Dublin Airport to major central Dublin attractions, hotels and business districts and other modes of public transport.
Dublin Bus Airlink has been redesigned to enhance the service provided to customers using Dublin Airport. Using the Port
Tunnel in both directions, between Dublin Airport and Heuston Station, it now offers a 15 to 20 minute frequency of service to some of Dublin’s top tourist and business districts including The O2 Dublin, The Convention Centre, IFSC, The Custom House, O’Connell Street, Christchurch Cathedral, College Green, Temple Bar and over 50 hotels and guesthouses throughout the City Centre. The service also offers excellent value for money at €6 for an Adult Single Ticket and €3 for a Child Ticket.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar said the improved Dublin Bus Airlink service offers greater choice for commuters and transport users, with a high frequency bus service between Dublin Airport and Central Dublin,“I am delighted to launch the improved Dublin Bus Airlink service. It’s good to see this new route taking full advantage of transport infrastructure like the Port Tunnel and the College Green Bus Corridor. Passengers will be able to get to Dublin Airport more quickly, with an improved journey time of 25 minutes from the city centre, and 55 minutes from Heuston Station. The Government is committed to promote public transport, and I fully support the provision of more diverse services.”
The on street information for Airlink has also been redesigned so that it is more distinctive and easier to recognise. Airlink bus stops have their own unique and distinctive colour and brand. Local maps are included at each bus stop which highlight the hotels and guesthouses within walking distance from that stop.
Tickets can be purchased directly from the Bus Driver or at any of the following locations:
• Airport: Terminal 1: Bus and Rail Information & Dublin Tourism Desk Arrivals Hall, Vending machines at Airlink bus stop. Terminal 2: Tickets available from Airlink Bus.
• City Centre: Dublin Bus 59 Upper O’Connell St, Dublin Tourism Suffolk St & O’Connell St, City Centre Newsagents, Accommodation providers.
