Public transport to return to full capacity from Wednesday 1 September 2021

Published on Tuesday, August 31, 2021

From 1 September, public transport will return to full capacity, under new measures announced by the Government. This means that seating will no longer be blocked off on-board our services.

As more people return to travelling on Dublin Bus services, we want to ensure your journey is safe and comfortable. We remind customers that wearing a face covering is still mandatory on public transport. We also ask customers to continue to:

  • Use hand sanitiser after boarding.
  • Leave windows open for ventilation.
  • Give priority to people with a disability, older people or a pregnant person for seating downstairs when travelling on the bus.
  • Exit through the centre doors when possible.
  • Carefully follow the guidelines set out by the Government and the Department of Health while travelling on our services.

With schools and third-level institutions returning to on-site learning we expect services to become busier in the coming weeks. We advise customers to plan their journey in advance and allow additional time.

As we welcome many of our customers back to public transport, we would like to remind you that since the onset of Covid-19, we have introduced a number of additional health and safety measures and we will continue to do so for as long as necessary. We have:

  • Implemented an enhanced daily cleaning regime which includes the sanitising of frequently touched surfaces on board.
  • Extended our cleaning regime to include inter-peak cleaning at depots and termini points throughout the city. This will ensure that buses are cleaned during the day and every night.
  • Installed hand sanitiser units onboard. The units are located in the lower saloon.
  • Fitted window stickers onboard, reminding customers to keep windows open for ventilation.
