Dublin Bus Chief Executive, Ray Coyne, today welcomed the publication of the National Transport Authority’s (NTA) Core Bus Corridors Project report.
Speaking about the report, Chief Executive Ray Coyne, said “I welcome this report which is part of a programme of investment of up to €1.5bn by Government and the NTA in the greater Dublin area. This is positive news for our customers and is part of a clear plan to tackle congestion and improve bus speeds and journey times. Only by making public transport a better option than private modes of transport, will we be able to achieve sustainable levels of growth and mitigate congestion in the long term.
Public transport is an essential economic development engine for Dublin and this will allow the city to build on the progress we have made over the last few years. It shows that policy makers recognise that the bus is central to the creation of a modern and dynamic public transport network in Dublin. This is a significant opportunity to continue the growth and success of Dublin Bus. With over 11 million extra customers carried in 2017, we will build on this investment with further service enhancements to the benefit of Dublin city and our customers.”
