Dublin Bus receives Diversity and Inclusion Award at Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards

Dublin Bus received an award in the sixteenth annual Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for its Workplace Gender Transition Policy and Guidelines in Diversity & Inclusion category. The awards took place on Thursday 19 September, 2019.

The Dublin Bus Workplace Gender Transition Policy and Guidelines, devised in consultation with Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI), include recommendations for employees, managers and the Human Resources Department on how to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for employees transitioning. The policy is one of the most comprehensive and advanced in the county. Dublin Bus is one of the first organisations, in Ireland, to introduce a policy of this kind.

Dublin Bus were also shortlisted for the Outstanding Achievement in CSR Award along with A&L Goodbody, Boots Ireland and Tesco Ireland. All 55 shortlisted candidates were automatically eligible for this award. The 4 companies shortlisted demonstrated outstanding, sustained commitment in their CSR practices at all levels.

The Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards were established in 2004 to recognise the work being carried out by Irish and multinational companies to improve the lives of their employees and to enhance the civic environment in which they operate. The 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards are partnered by Business in the Community Ireland, run in association with the Department of Rural & Community Development and kindly sponsored by BAM Ireland. 

Dublin Bus is the largest public transport provider in Ireland carrying 143 million customers in 2018. Dublin Bus employs 3,550 people and is considered to be one of the most progressive for inclusivity and supporting diversity among its workforce. Its work to date in this area has been put forward as a case study for best practice in relation to workplace diversity by the European Commission in Europe, and the IMI/CIPD in Ireland.
